While I love being in New York City and enjoy the fast pace I am always glad to get back home and I appreciate where and how I live even more.
I also loved walking down to the boys school that next morning in a shirt and flip flops and not sporting the hat, gloves, scarf, and jacket look. Never has 90 degrees felt so great. I'm also pretty sure the weather was fairly mild while I was there but for me, still chilllly.
Highlights of this trip:
*Walking around Soho for an afternoon shopping and snacking , kid less, during which we stopped in and got a short Chinese massage for $7.00
*As always H&M kid section. Found more for my boys than my girl.
*China Town in the rain, and as always get overwhelmed with all the stuff they sell and then regret not purchasing things later on.
*Walking through Central Park on the way home from church.
* Seeing Woody Allen and his wife/daughter holding hands passing us. (one of my goals was to see a celebrity)
* Jersey Boys on Broadway.......had some language(okay a lot because they were from Jersey) but nothing
that I haven't heard playing basketball at church or girls camp. The music of course was great (all Four Seasons Hits) and their
story was fun to learn about.
* Hanging out with my friend and her cute boys. We have been friends since we were 3 and always have fun catching up.
* Taking the subway into Harlem at 1:00 in the morning on accident and having to get off at the nastiest subway stop ever! I was on the corner trying to figure out which way to head when a nice black car pulled up and told me I should not be standing out by the street and I better get in because the yellow cabs don't come in this area. That 20 dollar cab ride was so worth it. (that was not the last time I messed up on the subway late at night by myself)
*the Museum of Natural History- that was pretty much the only time I really was wishing that I had my boys with me. All of them would have loved it!
*I loved just walking by myself up Broadway from Soho to Time square one evening going in and out of shops listening to my Ipod. I love to walk and shop by myself as much as I love doing it with others. Actually I prefer to only shop with one other person. any more and I feel like its a waste of time.
*Taking pics in a new city(although the weather wasn't the greatest for being outside and the rain made me leave my camera behind a lot.
* The day I was leaving I was able to go to a professional photo shoot where a children's photographer was taking pics for Baby talk Magazine. It was so fun for me to see all the behind scenes of how adds are shot and I walked into a other huge rooms in the building where they had photo shoots going on for Tommy Hilfiger's clothing and other stuff. I love to see how it all works and it was a fun way to spend my last morning.
* Also that last day we spent driving to JFK so we were able to drive around the outer city and see the Chelsea Piers, the WTC site ( Tara I thought of you) , the statue of Liberty from the land and then go over the Brooklyn bridge and we drove down to a pier where there was a movie being made and looked around for a bit. Then drove through Brooklyn which was fun for me to finally see and back to Phoenix I went happy to be headed to warmer weather and to my family.

Hi Julia!
That's so wonderful that you got to go to New York! To visit Mary, right? It sounds like you had a great time. (I had a similar incident happen in San Francisco where I ended up in the wrong part of town- made me appreciate my quiet life, that's for sure! I'm glad that taxi came along and saved you from who knows what...)
It's a small world - your friend Tara McMurdie's husband is the nephew of my dear friends Greg and Bonnie McMurdie who I know from Dallas. I saw McMurdie on your blog and couldn't resist checking it out. Sure enough - they even had a picture of Greg on their blog.
It's fun keeping up with your family on your blog!
Love and Hugs,
Rebecca (Palmer) Carter

it sounds like your friend in NY is a pretty crappy friend letting you be lost, on the subway, by yourself in the middle of the night mutiple times.
