First Blog of 2008

This blog has been a long time coming! It's been hard to find the time to blog when we have been getting up at 10 or 11 and staying up late playing with cousins and friends. It will be nice to get back on a early schedule again when school starts. Unfortunately that will be a little delayed for us since we are leaving for Park City early early tomorrow morn. We will be playing with cousins up there since Dustin's oldest sis. was able to get a pent house at the canyons resort for a week so we will be enjoying the freezing weather up there until Tues or wed.
We had the best New Years Eve! My Mom decided to have a kid new years eve party and had my kids and some cousins over to spend the night and the best part was that Emma was invited also which meant that from 5:00 on we were free to do whatever we wanted with no time limit. Shopping at Last Chance, dinner, movie, playing games, reading and of course sleeping in and not having to get up and make breakfast for anyone. It was the greatest day to just be alone and know we had all night to do whatever we wanted. Emma did great and I think they would now consider doing it again. (my birthday is coming up soon).......

Ben has been home all week because his preschool teacher is out of town and although he has been a little bored at times its been nice having him home all day. It's funny how he and Emma have started to play together so much more even though she bosses him around like crazy. She went over to him this morning and just smacked him in the head for no reason at all and I was telling her how she needs to be nice to Ben and not hit and he just kept saying"oh its okay Mom , Emmy can hit me it's okay i don't mind, it's fine Mom". Unfortunately I feel like she is going to turn into this little girl that can do no wrong because her brothers let her do whatever she wants and usually just laugh when she comes up and whacks them with something. I really hope she doesn't but if I have a terror running around in a couple of years at least I hope I'm aware of it. For now though I am just glad that they play so well together and that she has older brothers who will look out for her and hopefully just teach her through example how to be nice. I'm crossing my fingers.

A couple weeks ago after being sick for a week and a half Emma was looking pretty skinny and little. That next week after feeling better she was eating everything and snacking all day long and now her cheeks have returned and she is looking nice and chubby with some cheeks to spare.

She turned around and hit him in the head after they were looking so sweet for a second. Posted by Picasa

CHRISTMAS DINNER

Growing up my two cousins Amber and Megan didn't have any sisters (megan finally got one when she was 16 ) so we all grew up close like sisters. We have always exchanged gifts for christmas until a few years ago we decided that we would start a new tradition and have a girls dinner in december so we can catch up and that would be our gift to eachother. This is now one of my fav. christmas traditions! I love looking forward to seeing them and just having girl talk that we can't have when our moms or aunts are around. Nobody is the center of converstaion and we all talk about our lives good and bad and just talk about girl stuff and our crazy families. We all go different directions for christmas now, so it was a nice way to get together and see eachother during the holidays. This is a tradition that I hope we can continue but i think we should do it more than once a year. Love you girls!

I have been really bad at updating my blog lately so this week I will be posting more often, well at least thats my plan.

MR. Sand Man.........

The boys were so excited the other night when their Dad came home and told them he had brought them more sand. Our sand box had slowly lost all it's sand and I wasn't minding that it had lost it's appeal. Well today Ben and Emma helped to fill it back up and they were both so excited! It had been rained on so it was sticking to them more than normal but Ben loved shoveling the sand in and I was glad he was getting the workout.

They both were disgusting by the time they were done and i made them undress outside before they could come in to a hot bath. It's amazing how entertaining some dirt can be.

While I love anticipating and planning a holiday get together I am always glad for it to be over with and get back to my nice little schedule and routine. Apparently it's taken me a long time to recover from Thanksgiving weekend since I realized i hadn't posted anything in a long time.
This year we had Thanksgiving at our house with Dusty and my family all coming over. It turned out to be a really fun day made us appreciate the fact that our families get along well enough to spend a holiday together. We went over to a park down the street after dinner and played football with everyone and then came back for pie. My only disappointment of the day was that I didn't run in the turkey trot that i had signed up for and have been looking forward to. I am still mad at myself for not going but because of double ear infections plus teething and who knows what else Emma woke up at least 5 or six times before i needed to leave at 6:45 and was awake crying when I needed to leave. I don't know about other peoples kids but when my kids are sick and under the age of 3 they only want me and she didn't want Dusty to even lay by her so i really had no other options and i felt bad for her so i missed my race and slept in a bit more.
On Sunday Jenna's baby Luke was blessed and a lot of family came over after for some lunch before they headed out of town. It was fun to be with everyone and have all the kids play with their cousins but it felt great to have the weekend over with and get back to normal life. I guess that's a good sign that I enjoy my life with my little family because I do.
Dusty's sister Lisa was in charge of making the tables cute and she did a great job as always.

I love having three kids. I love having a seven year old that I can have a quiet morning getting him off to school when we can talk about who he is going to sit by that day at lunch. I love the way my boys adore their sister and the way Hunter sat by her for 45 minutes just stroking her head because she has been sick with the flu for four days now and then showing me exactly how it's done so i don't do it wrong. I love that I get to stay home with Ben and vote for which Bionicle man I want to win the fight and that we can take the time to make french toast together. I am already getting sad that this is my last year for him to be all mine. (some days I am glad that I will get to share him) I'm glad that I can sit and hold Emma for four days straight and not do much else and know that somehow my house will be clean and ready for the 25 people coming over for thanksgiving. I know my husband will help me and we will rush around but it will be clean for the party. I hope Emma wakes up in her own bed tomorrow morning and her fever is gone and I can have my funny girl back. I love having three kids.

This blog is not about emma she just happened to be the only one that would let me take pics of her

This was our long weekend................

*playing in out yard in perfect weather

*dressing up

*planting flowers

*pouring a bucket of dirt on our head

*playing football at the park with friends and Uncle Isaac
All of the boys friends loved Isaac and since he is really good
at sports they all wanted him on their team. I'm sure the fact
that Isaac told them all that he plays on the high school football
team helped .....and they all believed him.
Is this really the safest way to get a balloon down??
